How is K-Drum different from K-Thermo?
K-Drum runs natural aerobic — no heater. K-Thermo has integrated heaters maintaining 55–65 °C. K-Drum has a 15-day initialisation window before first compost is ready; K-Thermo gives compost in 22–24 hours. What's the MOC and why MSEP / FRP coating?
The outer body is MSEP (Mild Steel Epoxy Painted) with an FRP (Fibre Reinforced Plastic) coating layer. This combination gives the structural strength of mild steel with the corrosion resistance of FRP — critical for outdoor installations exposed to compost leachate, weather and the alkaline environment of an active aerobic process. The mixing chamber that contacts waste is SS 304.
Can K-Drum handle non-vegetarian / cooked food waste?
Yes, but for high-pathogen risk inputs (cooked meat, dairy at scale, hospital food waste) we recommend K-Thermo because its 55–65 °C cycle eliminates pathogens. K-Drum's natural cycle reaches 50–55 °C peak which kills most but not all pathogens.
What's the typical CapEx range?

Yes. K-Drum is listed under GeM product code 90131500 (Solid Waste Management Equipment). KWTPL is a registered MSME — eligible for L1+15% price preference under GFR Rule 153. Output compost meets FCO 1985 (Schedule III) parameters used by SBM-aligned ULBs.
Civil works needed?
For sizes up to 500 kg/day: a small concrete pad (typically 8x6 ft) is sufficient. For 1000 kg/day and above: foundation, drainage and weather shed required. Civil drawings supplied with order. Our team supervises civil during commissioning.
What's the operator effort per day?
Typically 1–2 hours per day: morning loading, evening output withdrawal, weekly inoculant top-up. PLC handles the rest automatically.
